Embellishment 101

A smoking hot trend right now for women is stepping out in all things embellished! Embellishments do one thing and they do it so well, they give your outfit an edge. You cannot but step out in something embellished and not stand out. You’d be noticed from miles away!

Embellished wears can however be expensive depending on what they are embellished with. A very pricey example comes to mind.   A bra by Victoria’s Secret. Victoria’s Secret recently made public, the said bra called “Black Diamond Fantasy Miracle Bra”. The bra is embellished with about 3,575 black diamonds, 117 white diamonds and 34 rubies and it costs a whopping $5 million!!!

Embellished wears are tricky as well. there’s always a chance you may get lost in all the bling and overdo it. What you want is to stand out and bring eyes to you, not blind people with all the glittering stones and have them look the other way.

The first rule, wear one embellished item at a time; an embellished dress is quite enough, don’t be tempted to pair it with jewellery, embellished shoes or an embellished purse. That’s a no-go. Even the queen of weird excessive extravagance, Lady Gaga will look odd in this.

The second rule, take extra care of your embellished items; they have on them all sorts things like beads, sequins and the like, so you have to take extra care when you’re in them and when maintaining them. It may not a very wise idea to dry clean embellished dresses for instance.

The third rule, always match properly; if you are going to wear large, intricate jewellery for instance, you need to match it up with a simple, laid back outfit. Wearing an outfit that’s ‘busy’ will ruin your look and remove attention from the jewellery
